However, I hope you already confirm that his hearing is ok. Sometimes ppl ingat deaf tuh tak dengar langsung, tapi actually deafness nih banyak degree, mild, moderate, severe and profound. kalau cam moderate and severe bunyi kuat2 die dengar, tapi kalau bunyi percakapan from a distance, maybe die ader problem untuk dengar.
1. Satu cara I try is I model kat die that things happen if you talk. For eg,amik arnab and buat arnab lompat2, sambil cakap hop, hop, hop, pas tuh saya stop. saya tunggu sampai die cakap, baru saya lompatkan balik arnab tuh. kalau die tak paham, buat dgn adik beradik yg lain. Lagi, kalau naik tangg** saya cakap naik naik then saya stop. tunggu die cakap naik, baru kiteorg sambung naik tangga tuh....
2. Delay response to gestures
kalau die guna gestures ke pointing ker, delay your response dlm 15-20 sec, buat2 tak paham ape die nak. tapi kalau die bercakap respond right away. Contohnya: kalau die point to botol susu ker, so kite boleh tanya " nak sudu ker? (pause) nak teddy? (pause) nak air oren? nak susu? (pause). Ooo...nak susu." bagi botol and you might want to repeat again, "susu".
3. Reinforcement through Praise
bile die try cakap ape yg die nak, maybe boleh puji die - Good Talking! or thumbs up, pat on the back or hug.
Hope that's help.
