Batik Painting In Public
Post by MamaFiza on June 2, 2009
Good afternoon luxurious mommies
Warning: this post contains large images.
Just a lil update regarding our activities last week (before playing slide-down-a-hill): Batik Painting in public.
Batik is a very unique and delicate masterpiece of work. It requires lots of patience while drawing the designs.
Batik is an ancient art and a complex one. Batik, using wax as a resist, was developed in many places around the world.
I told my kids to use lots of color coordination before a piece of nice, delicate and creative batik is produced.
The best part is they do not just learn how to make batik. They are first introduced to the instruments needed for batik-making and the basic techniques, such as how to hold the canting and identify various batik motifs.
In reality, I love to introduce them not only to batik but also to art and culture in general (Malaysian Batik Painting). And they simply heart it! *Alhamdulillah*
Seriously, it would be a pity if the art and culture of this country were not introduced to children from early age.

The chanting is dipped into hot wax
A chanting is a little copper bowl with a spout attached to a wood or bamboo handle. The wax to pours out of the spout and penetrates the fabric.

The artist draws with the chanting by using the law of gravity *winks* ^-^
